* Gossip : Daum 책 서비스의 번역서의 원서 정보/링크 삭제/중단에 대해서
오랫동안 'Daum 책'의 도서검색을 즐겨 사용했는데, 그 이유 중에 하나가 번역서를 검색하면 쉽게 원서의 정보도 같이 검색이 되었기 때문이다. 그러니까, DB에 번역서가 등록이 되면, 거의 동시에 원서가 등록되어서... 쉽게 원서의 정보를 찾을 수 있어서 책과 저자의 정보를 찾기가 용이했다. 처음 그런 서비스가 시작될 그 당시만해도 번역서와 원서의 정보를 동시에 그렇게 쉽게 찾을 수 있는 DB/서비스가 국내에 흔하지가 않았다.
그런데, 최근에 링크들을 정리하기 위해서 'Daum 책'의 검색을 다시 자주 사용하게 되었는데, 언제부터 왜인지는 잘 모르겠지만, 원서의 정보 검색이 잘 안되거나 링크가 끊어져있는 것이 보인다. 뭐랄까... 'Naver 책'처럼 번역서에 대한 정보만 주로 남기고 원서에 대한 정보가 삭제되고 있는 느낌이 든다. (반면에 최근에 Naver는 번역서의 페이지에 원서 탭/링크가 새로 있는 것을 보았다.)
무척 안타깝다. Daum이 자신들의 서비스의 차별적인 특징/장점을 살리지 못하고, 경쟁사의 서비스를 닮아가는 것을 보면, 이전에 보였던 Daum의 행동패턴을 다시 보는 느낌이 든다. 차라리 원서 검색의 결과에서 Amazon과 같은 원서 판매상과의 링크 교환이라던가 뭔가 트래픽과 매출/수익을 발생시킬 수 있는 방법을 찾지는 못하고, 있던 서비스조차 점차 없애가는 모습에서 상상력/기획력의 부족을 읽게 되기 때문이다. 물론, 짐작컨대 PC에서 스마트폰으로, 웹에서 SNS로 트래픽과 매출/수익이 옮겨가는 전체적인 트렌드 때문일 수도 있겠고, 그 외에도 굳이 외부로 밝히기 어렵거나 할 필요가 없는 이유도 있을 수 있겠으나, 뭔가 과거에 보았던 Daum의 패턴이 다시 보이는 것 같다. 본인의 짐작이 틀렸기를 바란다. - 2017.06.05.
