* Gossip: 비슷한 것 같으면서도... 분위기나 주제(?)가 꽤 다른 영화. 공통점이라면, 음악 & 고양이 이야기...
다른 점이라면, 시대/공간 배경 (1960년대 미국 vs 2010년대 영국); 한쪽은 음악이 주, 다른쪽은 고양이가 주;
한쪽은 자신의 음악을 한다는 것이 얼마나 고생스러웠는지라면, 다른쪽은 생계를 위한 길거리 공연하는 얘기.
계급/계층 측면에서 본다면... 한쪽이 노동자가 예술가로 살려는 노력; 다른쪽은 최하층 마약중독자의 갱생기?
(생계는 걱정하지 않아도 되는 평범한 삶보다 자발적인 가난 vs 생계를 위해서 길거리 공연 & 삶을 찾아가기?)
시/비, 호/오 ... 이런 것보다는... 시대적 배경의 차이라던가, 음악가, 작가 등 예술가의 삶에 대해 생각해볼 기회.
굳이 둘 중에 선택한다면... 긍정적 에너지, 영감 필요할 땐 후자, 불굴의 예술혼 보고 싶다면 전자... 정도 추천.
그런데, 어느쪽이던... "가족 영화"류로 보기에는 무리 있으니, 자신의 정신상태 불안정하다면... 나중에 보길...
(각각의 배경이 된 실화에 대해서는 아래의 위키피디아 링크에 있으니... 한번 훑어보면, 선택에 도움될 수도...)
연인이 같이 본다면... "예술 영화" 찾는다면 전자, 썸타는 "연애 이야기" 찾는다면 후자가 낫지 않을까?... 정도.
두 영화를 본 직접적인 느낌/인상은... 과거 60년대 미국에서 음악하기 힘들었겠군 & 현대 영국 마약 심각한 듯...
어느쪽이든... 대중 음악가, 예술가로 안정적인 삶 산다는 것이... 과거 미국이던, 현대 영국이던, 쉽지 않았던 듯.
(영화 결말만 놓고 보면, 그나마 후자가... 디즈니/헐리우드 영화의... 주인공의 역경 극복 후, 해피 엔딩 스토리.)
영화적 각색 있었겠지만, 서양 선진국도... 과거에는 대중음악, 예술 한다는 것이... 참 사람 할 짓 못됐다고 생각.
(아무리 허구인 영화에서 시대배경 읽는 것이... 좋은 방법은 아니라 해도, 현대에 비해 과거... 꽤 비참해 보임.)

Inside Llewyn Davis (/ˈluːɪn/) is a 2013 period black comedy musical drama film written, directed, produced, and edited by Joel and Ethan Coen. Set in 1961, the film follows one week in the life of Llewyn Davis, played by Oscar Isaac in his breakthrough role, a folk singer struggling to achieve musical success while keeping his life in order. The supporting cast includes Carey Mulligan, John Goodman, Garrett Hedlund, F. Murray Abraham, Justin Timberlake and Adam Driver.
Though Davis is a fictional character, the story was partly inspired by folk singer Dave Van Ronk's autobiography. Most of the folk songs performed in the film are sung in full and recorded live. T Bone Burnett was the executive music producer. Principal photography took place in early 2012, primarily in New York City. The film, an international co-production between companies in France, the United Kingdom and the United States, was financed by StudioCanal before it received an American distributor.
Inside Llewyn Davis premiered at the 2013 Cannes Film Festival on May 19, 2013, where it won the Grand Prix. The film was theatrically released in France on November 6, 2013, and in the United Kingdom on January 24, 2014, by StudioCanal. It was given a limited release by CBS Films in the United States on December 6, 2013, before opening in a wide release on January 10, 2014. The film received critical acclaim and was nominated for two Academy Awards (Best Cinematography and Best Sound Mixing) and three Golden Globe Awards for Best Motion Picture – Comedy or Musical, Best Actor – Motion Picture Musical or Comedy (Isaac), and Best Original Song. Inside Llewyn Davis has been held in high critical esteem since its release, being voted the 11th-best film released since 2000 in both a 2016 BBC Culture poll and a 2017 The New York Times list. The film was ranked 14 on Rolling Stone magazine's list of "50 Best Movies of the 2010s".

A Christmas-themed sequel, A Gift from Bob, was released to UK theatres in November 2020. The film was released posthumously, as Bob the cat died in June 2020.
